175,000 Workouts Later: A New Tech Leader

Commit Swimming is a new kind of workout manager for swim teams that was launched 20 months ago. We have been informed that this Spring, Commit surpassed a major milestone. To date there have been over 175,000 workouts written by coaches on Commit’s platform. According to Commit, this makes their product the most used swimming workout management software in the world.

Keeping Things Simple

We caught up with Commit to see why they have achieved so much success going up against established big name players like Active Network and TeamUnify. When asked this question outright, Commit Swimming co-founder, Dan Crescimanno, said “It’s about keeping things simple and listening to your customers.” Dan and his fellow creators over at Commit have put understanding the customer first from day one. “Sometimes, we won’t write a line of code all day. All we do is talk to coaches, because taking a few hours to understand their needs saves us weeks of development time.”

One of the other reasons Commit has taken the swimming software market by storm is their unique culture. “We work horizontally, not vertically”, explained Crescimanno. “When you think about the traditional company set up, people work in vertical silos within their trade; whether this is sales, marketing, customer support, or engineering. At Commit, we each split our time working horizontally across all aspects of the business. This ensures that there is never a disconnect between the customers and our products.”

To get started logging your team’s workouts, go to commitswimming.com and click “Try it Now”. For a limited time only, Commit is offering a 14 day free trial, no credit card required. With your trial you get swimming’s #1 workout manager on all of your devices. This state of the art software is built specifically for swim coaches and comes with 24/7 first class customer support.

Here are 7 reasons you should start using Commit Swimming this season:

ONE

Commit’s pricing is fair and transparent. They are different from “the other guys”, and it shows in their pricing. There are no setup fees, no hidden fees, no “lock-in” period, no contract, and there is no negotiating or haggling. Everyone pays the same, low price. It’s $8/ month or $90/ year per coach. There are even discounts for teams with 3+ coaches using Commit. You can view information about team pricing at commitswimming.com/pricing.

TWO

Commit’s service is second to none. And they do it with 3 guys. When you call or email Commit Swimming, you’re speaking to a business owner, a software developer, a salesman, and a customer service rep all at the same time. There is no disconnect between what is promised to get done and what actually gets done. There is no “going up the chain”. Someone will hear your concern and give you a viable solution on the spot 100% of the time. Period.

THREE

Commit Swimming is the only swimming software company that lets you sign up on the spot without speaking to a pushy salesman. And, for a limited time, this stress free sign-up process comes with a 14 day free trial. No credit card required. No gimmicks. Just a true free trial. Sign up for your free trial today at commitswimming.com/coaches. It won’t be around forever.

FOUR

You’re used to the routine. A sales rep visits your pool to show you just the basics of the new swim software your club bought. Next, you spend months convincing everybody on staff to adopt the new technology. That is a problem. Software should simplify your life, not complicate it… from day one… for everybody. Commit is so easy to use that you won’t need anyone visiting you, you won’t need an hour long webinar, and you’ll barely need to watch a 5 minute tutorial! Everyone on staff will be up and running within days.

FIVE

You shouldn’t be restricted to one line input boxes when writing a set. Other workout managment software forces you to follow a structured format that removes the character of your workout. No one wants to sit there and click buttons to change the reps, the distance, and the interval for each set. With Commit Swimming, all you have to do is type! It’s as easy as using a Word document, but it provides more data than traditional workout managers.

SIX

Do you want your swimmers to keep a log book? There is no need for them to write on a notepad anymore. With Commit’s mobile app, the athletes on your roster can review their workouts after they happen and take notes on each one. It’s a digital log book that speaks their language.

SEVEN

It’s the perfect time to get more efficient and organized. April and May are the best times to introduce new technology to your team. There are always reasons not to make adjustments to your routine, but you don’t want to look back in 20 years and realize that now you’re “that guy stuck in his ways”.

COMMIT SWIMMING’S VISION

Commit Swimming builds innovative software for our sport, bringing 21st century tech to swimming.

Every damn day Commit strives to improve technology in swimming, pushing the boundaries of what has been done before. For far too long swimming software has lacked creativity and simplicity. It is our goal to change that by delivering products that dazzle you with their simplicity and elegance.

If you figure a linear rate of enrollment and an average number of daily practices going in over 20 months, with only 22 practices per month, and say even 90% of those doing a trial actually pay to subscribe, this means they have a maximum of 716 paid subscribers. If you figure a very exponential rate of enrollment over 20 months, maybe double that. But if people put in two-a-days or more than 22 practices per month, that number of subscribers goes down. Hard to imagine that makes them the #1 used program as they claim. Support for that bold claim?

Math Teacher – I’m Dan, one of the founders at Commit. I appreciate the math here :-). That being said, I have to shed some light on a few flawed assumptions in your analysis. We are passionate about what we do at Commit, are confident in our product, and know our numbers, so I want to set the record straight for you and other readers.

I can’t share our detailed financials or subscriber numbers here, but I can offer some clues as to why your numbers are off.

The main 2 assumptions in your analysis are:
1. Linear growth
2. 22 workouts per month per subscriber

I’ve been using Commit since before it was a paid app.
Heck might even be a couple of my suggestions in there 🙂
Best customer support ever!
I’ve got ton’s of old workouts saved in doc and text file.
I can just copy and paste and with only minor tweaks it’s good to go.
Customer for life!

After using Committ now for an entire season, I cannot say enough good things about the platform. It is indeed easy to use, easy to share/print/email workouts, and a great tool. If you are not already knee deep in another workout tool, or are looking for something different, I highly recommend you give them a try. It is true that if you have any questions, an email or phone call will get you directly to the developers-and they are down-to-earth, cool guys who know their product and are willing to make it work for the coaches!

My current copy of HyTek team mgr has been running for 8 years and has just shy of 9,000 workouts. I would assume many users have more. I don’t think, IMO, that 175k is the gold standard, considering how long Workout Mgr has been around.

Hi Mac,

You are absolutely correct. Hy-Tek Workout Manager has been used for quite some time and coaches have amassed large quantities of workouts on their desktops. This speaks volumes to the impact that Hy-Tek had on the swimming world and the amazing work they did.

Commit is the 2017 tool of choice by coaches and has quickly become the most used product on the market. No question. I’d encourage you to check it out and make the transition if you’re up for it! If not, that’s cool too.
