Russia’s season-ending age group championships in short course meters wrapped up this weekend in Syktyvkar with the 11-12 girls and 13-14 boysage group championships.
The standout swimmer of the meet was 12-year old Vlada Eggy, who won a total of 5 gold and 2 silver medals across 3 days of competition.
That includes a 1:01.67 in the 100 fly on the final day of competition that both broke the Meet Record and ranked as the top-scoring swim of the meet (by FINA points scoring). That time converts to a 55.5 in yards and 1:03.0 in long course using the SwimSwam time conversion tool.
She was joined in the 5 gold medal club by Elizaveta Prokhorova, who had 5 gold and 1 silver medal. That included a win in the 100 IM in 1:03.95, the 2nd-best swim of the competition by FINA points and also a Meet Record. She also broke a Meet Record in the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.55
Between them, the St. Petersburg pair combined to win 5 individual events in a scheduled of 14 races.
On the boys’ side of the pool, 14-year old Muscovite Stepan Kalabin won 4 gold medals of his own, including a 56.21 in the 100 back (which tied with Arseniy Smykov). Kalabin also won the 50 back in 25.66.
The top swim, by FINA points, on the boys’ side of the pol was a 1:03.38 in the 100 breaststroke from Kirill Litvinov.
