Video: Rachelle Simpson Claims Gold On First Stop Of The 2015 Cliff Diving World Series

Possum Kingdom Lake in Texas hosted the first stop in the 2015 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series.

The event featured plenty of international competition attempting to show their dominance on the diving platform that is measured to be twice as tall as that used at the Olympic Games.

That means that these athletes are diving into the lake from a height of 20-meters or 66-feet.

Grabbing third was Ginger Huber. Huber finished fourth overall on the 2014 series. Her efforts included two third-place finished last season.

Lysanna Richard of Canada managed a second place finish here in Texas. In the final round she chose a ‘Front 2 Somersaults 1.5 Twists Free’ in order to try and make the podium.

In the end it was America’s Rachelle Simpson who grabbed gold on the first stop of the series. In the final round she went ahead with a ‘Back 3 Somersaults 1 Twist Pike’ to claim victorious.

Simpson was the 2014 World Series Cliff Diving champion, and is off to a great start in 2015 with her win at the first stop on the series.

There are a total of three stops on the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series. The next stop will be in Azores, Portugal on July 18th.
