Notre Dame Swimming Celebrates Academic Achievement

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Academics: at a collegiate institution such as the University of Notre Dame, they feature very prominently in the daily lives of student-athletes. In addition to receiving recognition from the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Fighting Irish men’s swimming and diving team was named a College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America team, with four members earning individual recognition.

“We are proud of our team’s accomplishments in the classroom,” says men’s head coach Matt Tallman. “It’s great for Cameron [Miller] and Michael [Kreft] to end their student-athlete careers with academic honors. My sincerest congratulations to all four individuals and to the rest of the squad for achieving the team award.”

The team received CSCAA Scholar All-America team honors on the strength of their 3.08 combined GPA, continuing their streak of high academic achievement. Breaststroker Andrew Jensen and backstroker Bogac Ayhan (both returning teammembers) joined graduating seniors Cameron Miller and Michael Kreft in earning honorable mention Scholar All-America accolades.

Jensen (a science pre-professional major) and Miller (who graduated with a degree in science-business) were both honored earlier in the year as members of the All-ACC Academic team.
