The Queensland Team will enter this weekend’s State Teams Age Short Course Championships at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra looking to defend its title for the seventh straight time. With many World Junior and Junior Commonwealth representatives backing up, they look the strong favourites to retain their title. They will, however, have strong competition from the New South Wales Team as well as the Victorian Team.
Kyle Chalmers returns from his first senior team and World Junior Championships to lead the South Australian Team. Two-time World Junior Champion Minna Atherton leads the Queensland contingent with her fellow World Junior Team Members Shayna Jack, Gemma Cooney, Calypso Sheridan and Mikayla Messer joining her to make a very formidable team.
With teams from Western Australia, and Northern Territory set to join the Queensland, Victorian and New South Wales teams in Canberra at the Institute of Sport on September 24th for three days of head-to-head racing.

Ah, but would you operate it on where they are currently situated or on a “state of origin” basis. Gina will certainly “get” the latter, given this is how our two biggest football codes “work” their representative teams.
If the US had an east v. west youth all-star dual … who would win?
meemee – it depends on whether you divided the teams by hometown or current training location, but if you did it by time zones of 2015-2016 training location (West and Mountain versus East and Central), a quick perusal through the National Team shows that the East would win pretty handily. That would shift a little with the Bowman/Phelps/Kalisz/Runge/etc. shift to Tempe, but on an eyeball test, East would still definitely win – which makes sense because those two time zones have a huge population advantage (80% of the U.S. populations lives in Eastern and Central time zones).
