Kelsi Artim of Crown Point High School and Crown Point Swim Club in Indiana has verbally committed to the University of Wisconsin-Madison class of 2021.

Artim is a senior at CPHS– last season at the 2016 IHSAA Championships, she placed 5th in the 100 breaststroke and won the 200 IM B final to earn 9th overall.

TOP TIMES

  • 100 breast – 1:02.74
  • 200 breast – 2:19.31
  • 200 IM – 2:03.71
  • 100 fly – 56.51
  • 200 free – 1:53.60

While just outside of B1G conference championship level scoring range in the 100 breaststroke, Artim’s sprint speed is intriguing. She split a quick 28.38 on CPHS’s 200 medley relay last season at the IHSAA Championships, which is just four tenths back of what Wisconsin breaststroker Anna Meinholz split in their 5th-place 200 medley relay finish at 2016 B1Gs.

Wisconsin has been pumping in elite talent to their team in the last year or two, though they’ve been very lacking in breaststroke depth. They only had two scoring swims in the 200 breast and 1 in the 100 at last season’s B1Gs, and breaststroker Maria Carlson graduates after this season. Artim’s coming in at the right time, and will join another breaststroker, Avalon Schultz, in Wisconsin’s class of 2021.
