Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Owen Ngan has announced his decision to swim for the University of Hawaii beginning in the 2021-2022 season. He graduated from Clackamas High School in the spring of 2021 and he is a year-round swimmer at Lake Oswego Swim Club.

I am absolutely ecstatic to announce my verbal commitment to continue my swimming and academic career at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa! I am beyond blessed and thankful for my friends, family, coaches for the support they have given me over these past years.  Special thanks to Coach Emily, Coach Alex, and my parents for their unwavering support. Catch me in paradise. GO BOWS!!!!🌈🤙🏼

Ngan is a 2021 Winter U.S. Open qualifier. In mid-July, he competed at the Speedo Sectionals meet in Austin, TX where he went personal best times in the 400 free, 200 breast, and 200 and 400 IM at the long course meet. He picked up US Open qualifying times in the 200 breast and 400 IM, a Winter Juniors time in the 200 IM, and a Futures cut in the 400 free.

At the end of July, Ngan swam at the Futures Championships in Santa Clarita. He made it back in the A-final of the 400 IM. He touched 7th overall, his highest finish of the meet. Ngan also swam the 800 free and finished 11th in the event. He was 26th in the 200 IM, 48th in the 100 breast, and 54th in the 200 breast.

Top SCY Times:

  • 200 breast – 2:03.37
  • 500 free – 4:36.04
  • 1000 free – 9:27.36
  • 1650 free – 15:45.58
  • 400 IM – 3:58.17

Ngan will join the Bows beginning in the fall of 2021. He will be a top incoming distance freestyler for Hawaii. During the 2019-2020 season, Ngan’s times would have made him the team’s top competitor in the 1000 and the 1650 free. He also would have been the second-fastest 400 IMer behind Talon Lindquist.

Ngan will be joining mid-distance freestyler Logan Euker and sprint freestyler Dietrich Meyer as a member of Hawaii’s class of 2025.
