The UNCW swim team hosted the CAA Pod meet this weekend, which led to bot the William & Mary men and the James Madison Women coming home undefeated.
The William & Mary Tribe men took down the hosts, UNCW, 199-148 to come home with a big victory. Their other big win was against Deleware where they triumphed with a total of 213 points to Deleware’s 128.
The James Madison women took home wis against UNCW, William & Mary, as well as Deleware to go a perfect three-for-three at the meet. They scored their highest point total against UNCW, racking up 252 points to more than double their competitors as they only put up 101.
Against Deleware they produced their second largest margin of victory with 219 points to Deleware’s 143. Against William & Mary they won 200.5-145.5.
Overall the James Madison women came home with seven individual wins along with two relay victories, including wins by senior Sin Hye Won who was the only James Madison swimmer to come home with two individual wins.
Won swept the breaststrokes, clocking in at 1:04.91 in the 100 and 2:20.75 in the 200. Her teammates also backed up her stellar performances with wins in the 1650, 200 free, 100 back, 3-meter event, and the 200 butterfly. The Dukes two relay victories were in the medleys, where they won the 400 in 3:49.31 and the 200 in 1:45.71. Both relays were extremely close races as they had The Tribe hot on their heels, however, they managed to come up successful both times.
The Tribe men were more successful then their female counterparts, racking up 26 wins out of 34 events to beat both Deleware and UNCW.
Junior Jeremiah O’Donnell had one of the biggest success stories of the meet, coming home with victories in the 200 IM and 400 IM. In the first of the two, he set a new meet record in the 200 with a 1:51.82 and backed up that performance with another meet record in the 400 IM with a 4:02.97.
O’Donnell also came home with a win in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:05.03.
Will Manion was another dominant swimmer for the tribe as he swept the backstroke events with a 48.86 to break his own meet record in the 100, and a 1:48.49 in the 200.
Freshman Evan Baker pushed to sweep the fly events with a 50.10 in the 100 and a 1:53.37 in the 200. All the swimmers were also part of the successful relays which included wins in the 400 medley relay, 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay to remain undefeated in all relay events.
The Tribe men will host Duke on the 7th of November, and the James Madison women will be back in competition Nov. 21st.
