Natalie Schumann and Jessica Campbell Collaborated on our Big Ten Championship coverage this weekend. Tonight, they caught up with Wisconsin coach Whitney Hite. His team finished 6th at the Big Ten Championships, but they also brought us two of the most memorable swims of the meet: Drew Teduits’ 1:39.98 victory in the 200 back, and Michael Weiss’ 3:39 in the 400 IM.
Hite still has some building to do with his program, and is still a few years of good recruiting away from being able to compete with the likes of Michigan, Ohio State, and Indiana. They are, however, taking what they have and turning it into star-power. Consider that Weiss and Teduits were basically unknowns before Hite got his hands on them, and now they have spots among the best in the country.
Big things are in store for this program in the future.
