2018 TYR PRO SWIM SERIES – MESA

After making it to the final of the 50 free shootouts in Austin, where Nathan Adrian beat Michael Andrew to the finish, the 2 men went head-to-head again in the final of the 50 free shootouts in Mesa. Andrew, who won the 50 fly shootouts in the beginning of the session, returned for his 2nd round of sprint 50s. He led the way through the quarterfinal as Adrian, Michael Chadwick, and Bruno Blaskovic also advanced.

In the semifinal, Adrian had the edge as he was the fastest man to the wall. Andrew touched 2nd to join him in the final as he out-touched Chadwick. The final round came shortly afterwards, and both men had their slowest swims of the day, but Adrian was able to top Andrew in 22.94 as he took the title. Adrian is now undefeated in shootout finals. Andrew, in his 6th 50 of the session, finished in 23.70.
