The tension in the air….the celebratory sounds of the crowd…..the flashing of one’s tongue piercing (in Florent Manaudou‘s case anyway), such are the sights and sounds surrounding the establishment of a new World Record, as captured by FINA’s recent video montage.
Celebrating the collective accomplishments of such international swimming stars as Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom, France’s Florent Manaudou, Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu and America’s Michael Phelps, FINA has pieced together old and new moments documenting world records across the long course and short course formats of our sport.
Perhaps the visual display is foreshadowing what is to come in Rio this summer, as the best of the best take to the Olympic Aquatic Center pool in the hopes of standing atop the podium for their respective nation. It’s not a stretch to think we’ll at least see one, if not possibly more, world records go down by the time all is done and dusted at the 2016 Olympic Games.
Silly how FINA didn’t consider putting Ledecky in this video…
They should rename it to the latest world records.
Whenever I see anyone celebrate by sitting on top of a laneline, I always want to hear a lifeguard say “off the laneline ” in an irritated voice
