The Liberty swimming & diving team, under the direction of 12th-year Head Coach Jake Shellenberger, will host BIG Ten program Penn State for the first time in program history, highlighting its 2021-22 schedule.
The Lady Flames have won the CCSA championship each of the three seasons, and will host the CCSA Swimming & Diving Championships for the second year in a row.
Lynchburg area swimming & diving fans will have several opportunities to see the Lady Flames in action at the Liberty Natatorium, which features a fully-rebuilt diving tower. Liberty opens the schedule with an exhibition meet against University of Lynchburg on Sept. 24, a meet which also features Liberty’s men’s club swimming & diving team.
The Lady Flames open the regular season at Campbell on Oct. 2, the seventh time in program history the Liberty has begun its season against the Camels in Buies Creek, N.C.
Following a meet at Marshall (Oct. 22-23), the Lady Flames will host Penn State and ECU on Oct. 29-30. That will mark the first visit by a BIG TEN team to Liberty Natatorium.
Liberty will host the third annual TYR ’85 Invite from Nov. 19-21 to round out the 2021 portion of its schedule.
On Jan. 8, the Lady Flames will compete at UNCW. The following weekend will see Liberty host a diving invitational.
The regular season concludes with a two-day home meet versus Campbell and UNC Asheville on Jan. 21-22.
The Lady Flames host the CCSA Swimming & Diving Championships for the third time and second in a row, Feb. 16-19.
The Liberty Last Chance Meet will follow Feb. 25-27, allowing swimmers another chance to improve on qualifying marks.
The 2022 NCAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships will be held at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Ga., March 16-19.
