BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vermont Swimming and Diving announced their tri-captains for the upcoming 2023-24 season. A trio of seniors Ellie Martin, Kara Campbell and Chloe Smith will lead the squad.
Martin looks to build off a strong end to the 2022-23 season where she set a season-best time in the 400 IM at the America East Championship and placed 10th in the 500 free at the NJIT Invitational and seventh in the 1000 free. At the 2022 Harold Anderson Invitational she placed seventh with a season-best time in the 1650 free. The Woodbridge, Virginia native is majoring in Political Science.
Campbell has been a major contributor to the Catamounts over the past three seasons. In 2022-23 she placed 10th in the 200 IM at the America East Championship as well as 11th in the 400 IM. In 2021-22 she was named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll and the America East All-Conference Team. In 2022-23 she was named to the America East Academic Honor Roll. The Greentown, Pennsylvania native is majoring in Environmental Studies.
Chloe Smith has been an anchor for the Catamounts diving team earning Most Improved Diver in 2023. Smith placed top 15 in both the three-meter dive and the one-meter dive at the 2022 Harold Anderson Invitational. She also placed fourth in the one-meter dive and third in the three-meter dive at the NJIT Invitational. In her 2022-23 season she set career bests in the three-meter dive and the one-meter dive with scores of 194.15 and 215.70, respectively. Originally from Pennington, New Jersey Smith is majoring in Psychological Science with a minor in Consumer and Advertising.
The Catamounts will begin the 2023-24 season at Forbush Natatorium when they host Merrimack on Saturday, September 30. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. The meet will be the Catamounts annual Military Appreciation Day presented by Milton CAT. We encourage fans to visit with our friends from the Josh Pallotta Fund, a local non-profit which provides critical services to veterans and active military personnel.
