DAVIS, Calif. — The Aggies opened their head-to-head season competition with wins over the University of Nevada, Reno and Cal State East Bay at a Saturday afternoon tri-meet hosted at Schaal Aquatics Center.
Elena Gingras won two events for the Aggies, dominating long-distance freestyle by taking the top spot in both the 1000 (10:32.15) and 500 free (5:05.04).
UC Davis took first place in 11 of the meet’s 16 events and eight different Aggies secured individual event wins. The Aggies swept the top three spots in the 200 Free, 100 Breast, 50 Free, 200 Breast and 500 Free.
The Aggies will look to keep their early season momentum going when they travel to UC San Diego to compete in a swim only meet against the Tritons on Oct. 28.

DAVIS, Calif. – Nevada clinched the win against Cal State East Bay but fell short to UC Davis. The Pack lost to UC Davis with a score of 96.5-212.5 and won against East Bay with a score of 205-87, with diving scores included.
The Pack started strong in the 200-medley relay with a season best time. Scarlett Ferris, Campbell Deringer, Yasmin Perry, and Colette Berkenfield secured the second-place finish with a time of 1:44.86. The Relay B team consisting of Molly Von Seggern, Evie Wood, Caitlin Smith, and Evie Floate finished in fourth place with a time of 1:48.24.
The Pack capitalized on the 100 backstroke and 200 butterfly with first and second finishes in both. In the 100 backstroke, Scarlett Ferris finished first (55.74) and Molly Von Seggern in second (56.78). In the 200 butterfly, Yasmin Perry secured the first-place finish with a time of 2:03.18 and Evie Wood in second with a time of 2:06.06. Audrey Bull had a fourth-place finish with a time of 2:07.75.
In freestyle events, Frederica Kizek had an impressive time in the 1000 freestyle, with a time of 10:38.08 finishing second. Olivia Stevenson finished fourth in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:57.34. In the 50 freestyle, Evie Floate finished third (24.43) and Berkfenfield finished fifth (24.49).
Von Seggern wrapped up the individual events for the Pack as she took second in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:05.21. Perry had a first-place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.56. Wood followed in fourth with a time of 57.08.
Pack finished the day with two top five finishes in the 400 individual medley with Sara Mihalic in fourth (4:37.35) and Frederica Kizek in fifth (4:37.97).
Nevada divers executed well in the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard with Lucia Gabino topping the leaderboard in the 1-meter springboard with 285.5 points, followed by Dani Griffin in fifth with 212.85 points and Madi Simons in eighth with 209.02. Gabino had a second-place finish in the 3-meter springboard with 259.75. Griffin finished ninth (177.53) and Simons in eleventh (163.12), respectively.

DAVIS, Calif. – Cal State East Bay women’s swimming competed in a dual meet against NCAA Division I programs UC Davis and Nevada in a double dual meet. The Pioneers lost the team scoring to both teams, but had some highlights throughout Saturday’s meet.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES |
- The Pioneers finished in the top ten in every event they participated in and in the top five in seven of those events.
- Individually, Brooklyn Dressel was the lone Pioneer to win an individual event, placing first in the 100 yard freestyle in 52.26 seconds.
- As a team, the Pioneers finished third in the 400 yard freestyle relay and fifth in the 200 yard medley relay.
