Tim Bennett of Indianapolis, IN has announced his verbal commitment to Gardner-Webb University for the 2018-2019 season. He will be joining his sister Charity Bennett, a rising junior on the team.
“I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to swim at Gardner-Webb University. I am grateful to begin this new chapter in my life with outstanding coaches and teammates. I can’t wait to swim on the same team as my sister just like the old days!”
Tim Bennett competes for North Central High School and Fishers Area Swimming Tigers. At the 2018 IHSAA State Championships, he picked up a 3rd place finish in the 100 fly with a 49.29. On top of a 10th place finish in the 100 back (51.24), Tim Bennett dropped a 21.51 butterfly split on North Central’s 8th place 200 medley relay team, which would have been Gardner-Webb’s best split at last year’s CCSA Championship meet, and a 46.18 anchoring their 9th place 400 freestyle relay.
On the club side of things, Bennett represents the Fishers Area Swimming Tigers. Nationally, he most recently represented FAST at this past summer’s NCSA Summer Championships.
Bennett will make an immediate impact during his freshman campaign as his best time in every 100-yard event would have been top 5 on the Runnin’ Bulldogs roster last season.
