BROWN DEER, Wis.–University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point declares the lead following the first day of competition at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men’s Swimming & Diving Championship (presented by Culver’s) at Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center on Feb. 13.
Through six events, the 20-time defending champion Pointers have accumulated 288 points. UW-Eau Claire is second with 233 points, UW-Whitewater third with 171, UW-Oshkosh fourth with 119 and UW-La Crosse fifth with 109.
UW-Eau Claire’s Collin Miller captured the 200-yard individual medley for the fourth straight year with a conference meet record time of 1:47.52. He is just the second swimmer in league archives to win the event four times, joining UW-Stevens Point’s Alex Anderson (2003-06). Miller also helped the 200-yard freestyle relay team and 400-yard medley relay team to victory. The 200-yard freestyle relay won the event for the first time since the 2000 championship. He was joined by Dan Detert, Sam Ryf and Michael Bylander in posting a time of 1:22.88.
The Blugolds’ 400-yard medley relay squad also included Ryf, Bylander and Nicholas Meints as the foursome achieved a time of 3:21.81.
UW-Eau Claire’s Dylan Glumac-Berberich won the three-meter diving competition for the second straight year with a score of 560.10.
UW-Oshkosh’s Jarrett Lieder became the first individual in program history to win the 500-yard freestyle – posting a time of 4:34.49, while UW-Stevens Point’s Payton Killian claimed the 50-yard freestyle in 21.17 seconds.
Competition at the three-day championship will continue on Feb. 14, with the prelims at 10 a.m. and finals being conducted at 6:30 p.m.

WOMEN
BROWN DEER, Wis.–University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire owns the advantage following the first day of competition at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship (presented by Culver’s) at Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center on Feb. 13.
Through five events, UW-Eau Claire has amassed 197.50 points. UW-La Crosse, the eight-time defending champion, is second with 189.50 points, while UW-Whitewater is third with 178, UW-Stevens Point fourth with 138 and UW-Oshkosh fifth with 90.
UW-Whitewater’s Renata Schlomann was victorious in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.57 seconds. She also helped the 400-yard medley relay team to a first-place finish with a time of 1:36.75. Schlomann was joined by Savana Bitz, Olivia Theobald and Bailey Weston.
UW-La Crosse’s Lilly Larsen, Maria Vaudreuil, Ellie Szczupakiewicz and Mikala Leppla teamed to win the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:53.90. It marked the first title for the Eagles in the event since the 2013 championship. UW-La Crosse also received a first-place performance from Kaylie Svacina in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:11.30.
UW-Stevens Point’s Anna Pilecky won the 500-yard freestyle for the second straight season in 5:00.21.
