The third leg of the FINA UltraMarathon Swim Series was contested in Lac St. Jean, Canada on Saturday.
Marcel Schouten of the Netherlands, Australia’s Christopher Deegan and Argentina’s Matias Diaz Hernandez made the podium in the men’s 32 kilometer race. Schouten won the gold in 7 hours 13 minutes and 31 seconds. Deegan crossed the finish line nearly 10 minutes later (7h23m16s), followed by Diaz Hernandez (7h32m41s).
Morgane Dornic of France topped the podium on the women’s side, finishing the 32 kilometer race in 8 hours and 34 seconds, 10 minutes ahead of her nearest competitor. Argentina’s Pilar Geijo picked up the silver (8h12m40s), while Italy’s Alice Franco grabbed the bronze (8h23m07s)

Bronze medalist Matias Diaz Hernandez of Argentina improved on his 13th place finish at the 15 km event on Feb. 9 in Rosario, Argentina, and his eighth place effort in Sante Fe, Argentina on Feb. 3.
This also was third race of the season for fourth place finisher Edoardo Stochino of Italy, who was seventh in Rosario and third in Sante Fe. Saturday’s fifth place finisher Evgenij Pop Acev was sixth in Rosario and fourth in Sante Fe. Damian Blaum improved to sixth place in Lac St. Jean after placing eighth in Rosario and sixth in Sante Fe.
North Macedonia’s Aleksandar Ilievski was ninth on Saturday, following 10th place efforts in Sante Fe and Rosario. Argentina’s Aquiles Balaudo was ninth in Sante Fe and in Rosario.
On the women’s side, runnerup Pilar Geijo improved on her fourth place finish at the 15 km event in Rosario, Argentina, and matched her silver medal from the Santa Fe stop.
Daira Marin, who finished fifth in Lac-St. Jean, was eighth in Rosario and sixth in Sante Fe. Seventh place finisher Rita Vanesa Garcia of Argentina matched her effort from the Rosario event.
