Spain’s Olympic Trials took place last weekend in Sabadell and by the time the meet concluded, 15 Olympic cuts were obtained by the nation’s best. Per the Spanish Olympic qualification procedures, swimmers technically have until this May’s European Championships to clear the FINA Olympic cuts, so we may see a few more names added to this list in a couple of months.

Men’s 400m Freestyle Relay (Contingent)
- The combination of Miguel Ortiz, Aitor Martinez, Bruno ortiz and Oskitz Aguilar earned a 400m freestyle time of 3:16.77, a mark which now stands as the 14th-fastest in the world. With FINA regulations giving Rio relay spots to the first 12 placed teams at last year’s FINA World Championships, the remaining 4 teams per relay event are to be given to the teams with the fastest times in the FINA World Rankings as of May 31st. Therefore, this relay’s qualification is pending additional times thrown down at various Trials throughout the world, as well as the European Championships, all taking place prior to May 31st.
The Spanish men’s 4x200m finished 9th at the World Championships last year, so have already qualified.
