Riette Bloomfield of Georgetown, Kentucky has announced her verbal commitment to Henderson State University for the fall of 2020. She attends Scott County High School and swims for the Lexington Dolphins.

Last spring Bloomfield competed at the 2019 KHSAA (Kentucky High School) State Championships. There, she swam in both the 100 fly (1:00.01) and 200 free (2:00.08), finishing 21st and 22nd respectively. She was a finalist at the 2019 Kentucky 13 and Over State Long Course last summer where she finished 15th in the 200 fly. Already this year Bloomfield has swam a best time in the 200 fly, going a 2:12.29 at the HSA TYR Invitational in January.

With her best times Bloomfield would have scored in the A-final of the 200 fly as well as the B-final of the 100 free, 200 free, and 100 fly at last year’s New South Conference Championships. She would have held the top time for Henderson State last season in both the 200 fly and 200 free. Henderson State finished 4th out of 6 teams. Last year’s champions, Lindenwood University, are no longer in the conference, having moved to the Great Lakes Valley Conference beginning this season.
