Rhyan White Drops 53.7 100 Back at Utah 5A States

Cottonwood High School’s Rhyan White was just a few tenths shy of her own State Record at the Utah 5A High School State Championships. She dominated the field, posting a blazing 53.79 to win  by over 3 seconds. White also won the 200 IM earlier in the session, just out-touching Brighton High School’s Rachel Butler (2:05.55) by hundredths with her 2:05.53. Butler went on to win the 500 free in 5:03.61.

Viewmont High School’s Mariah Maile and Cottonwood High School’s Christian Simon were also double event winners. Maile earned her golds in the 200 free (1:51.86) and 100 free (51.38), while her older sister MJ Maile won the 100 fly in 58.82. Simon, on the other hand, swept the men’s sprints with his 21.45 in the 50 free and 47.13 in the 100 free.
