For the last 45 years, Saturday Night Live has brought American audiences its unique brand of sketch comedy on Saturday nights, launching the careers of some of the world’s most famous comedians. As the show settles into its new virtual format (with some hits and some misses), NBC Sports on Friday is running a marathon of the show hosted by some of the greatest athletes ever.
Leading off the set, beginning at 7 Eastern Time, is Michael Phelps in hosting appearance from September 13, 2008. This appearance came at the peak of Phelps’ sporting acclaim, just a month after he won a record 8 Olympic gold medals in Beijing.
