QUOTABLES
“Today the waves took care of business with a dominant performance,” head coach Ellie Monobe said. “This meet really showed us our level of fitness as well as our attention to our plan and race execution. I am starting to see a lot of the things that we’re working on during our training be applied, and I think we are beginning to see a lot of the work in the weight room show up in the pool, which is always a good sign at this point in the season. The staff and I are very excited to see what our next home meet has in store after a few more weeks of training and a bit more rest before our last home meet of the calendar year. We’re being very consistent and it’s showing up in how we are finishing our races, and we’re right where we want to be at this point in the season. Moving forward, we need to be on top of our training both mentally and physically, before we get to our mid-season meet.”
NEXT UP
Pepperdine will have three weeks off before returning to action on Saturday, November 16. The Waves will continue their season at home in a double dual meet against UC Santa Barbara and UC San Diego at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool.

(SANTA BARBARA, Calif.) Westmont Swim participated in its first dual meet of the year on Saturday, traveling down the coast to Malibu to compete with the Pepperdine Waves.
“We had a pretty good day today,” said Westmont’s head coach Jill Lin after the event. “Going up against Pepperdine is no easy task, but the team focused on their races and pulled out some great swims.
“Olivia Garrison won the 1650 yard freestyle to start out the meet with a great time,” noted Lin, “and Tiffany Ball dropped almost 45 seconds for a lifetime best time.”
Garrison posted a time of 17:49.65 to beat out Pepperdine’s Ava Wiley by more than 19 seconds. Ball finished in a time of 20:36.13. She also swam a personal best time of 5:57.43 in the 500 yard freestyle.
“Kate Spraul finished second in the 500 yard freestyle coming off a week of being sick, so that was a great swim,” noted Lin.
Spraul finished in a time of 5:28.34 with Garrison taking third in a time of 5:33.79.
“It was great to see some lifetime best times out of Meliana Calica (200 yard breaststroke) and Lilli Nemetz (200 yard butterfly),” added Lin.
Calica touched the wall in the breaststroke in a time of 2:44.60. Nemetz had a time of 2:37.69 in the butterfly.
“Overall it was a good meet for us to see where we are at before mid-season and really narrow down what we need to work on,” assessed Lin.
Next Friday, Westmont will hold its annual Maroon and White Intrasquad meet at the Westmont Pool. The Warriors’ next competition against other schools will be at the La Verne Winter Invitational that will be held November 22-244 at the East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park.
