Sarah Manthorp has committed to swim at Lehigh University (2020).
Downington West High School’s Sarah Manthorp has verbally committed to swim at Lehigh University beginning in the fall of 2020. She announced,
“I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to Lehigh University, where I will be continuing my academic and athletic pursuits as a Mountain Hawk swimmer! Thank you so much to everyone who has helped and supported me along the way, especially my family, friends, and coaches! Go Mountain Hawks!!”
As a junior, Manthorp placed fourth in the both the 100 free (51.64) and 200 free (1:51.19) at the 2019 Pennsylvania District I Championships in March. She contributed additional team points as a member of her high school team’s 200 medley and free relays. Her 100 free time was a personal best, qualifying her for the 2019 Futures meet.
The sprint freestyler has also qualified for Futures in the 50 and 500 free. In December, she competed at the Potomac Valley Sport Fair Winter Classic for her club team, the Upper Main Line YMCA. Sarah earned spots in the A-final for the 50, 100, 200, and 500 free, as well as a B-final swim in the 100 fly.

If she continues to improve her time, Manthorp will be in a good position to make it into the A-final of the 200 free at the Patriot League Championships. She took 3 seconds off of her 200 free time between April 2018 and April 2019. She will be the team’s second fastest 100 freestyler behind Ann Foley, as they will overlap for one season. Manthorp will be joining fellow commit Maddie Dorish in the class of 2024.
