Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
One of the top swimmers in the state of Oregon, Dylan Gustaff has announced her decision to make the trip across the country in the fall of 2023, committing to swim for Towson University in Towson, Maryland. Gustaff just finished her junior year of high school at Lake Oswego High School and trains club with the Lake Oswego Swim Club.
Gustaff is a multiple time OSAA 6A Swimming and Diving State Championships finalist, most recently coming away with a bronze medal while competing at the meet in February of this year. Racing in the 200 IM, she swam to a lifetime best of 2:03.61 to earn third behind a pair of seniors. She also added a seventh place finish in the 100 breast, finishing in another lifetime best of 1:06.54.
More recently, while competing in the long course pool, she was a four event finalist at the Sectionals meet in Mount Hood. At the Sectionals meet, she finished in the B-final of the 200 back (2:22.73), 200 IM (2:25.39), and 400 IM (5:08.56). She also added a C-finals appearance in the 100 back (1:06.83).

Towson is coming off a 2022 season that concluded with a 3rd place finish at the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships, finishing behind William and Mary and UNC-Wilmington. The Tigers were led at that meet by fifth year Karlee Carminati, who finished with a pair of medals in the 1650 freestyle and 400 IM.
Even with a year of high school left to improve, Gustaff is already capable of making an impact on the Towson roster, especially in the backstroke and IM events. Last season, she would have led the program in the three different events, the 200 back, 200 IM, and 400 IM. Her times also would have made her an immediate contender in those events for the podium at the CAA Championships. She would have finished 2nd in the 400 IM and 3rd in the 200 IM at the 2022 meet.
Gustaff is one of the first public commitments to Towson since Anthony Bruno was announced as the program’s new head coach last month. Bruno joins the Tigers after spending the past five seasons with Fairfield University, where he was recognized as the MAAC Women’s Coach of the Year three times during his five years with the program. Bruno is joined by assistant coach Matt Bosse, who was Bruno’s assistant coach while at Fairfield.
