Ohio Breaststroker Libby Smith Commits to Swim for Cleveland State

Ohio’s Libby Smith has given a verbal commitment to swim for Cleveland State University in the fall of 2017. “When I went to visit and meet the team it just felt right and I knew that this is where I wanted to be for the next 4 years. The coaches and everyone on the team made me feel so welcomed and right at home. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be a Viking.”

Smith is a senior at Avon Lake High School and a member of Lake Shore Swim Club. She specializes mainly in breaststroke and is a Southwest Conference Champion, an Ohio state qualifier, and a USA Swimming Futures qualifier. Smith earned best times in the 50/100/200 breaststrokes, in both short course yards and long course meters, during the course of 2016.

Her best SCY times are:

  • 50 breast – 31.36
  • 100 breast – 1:05.73
  • 200 breast – 2:29.67
  • 200 IM – 2:13.41

Smith will join Lake Shore Swim Club teammate and co-captain Alana Cartwright in the Cleveland State class of 2021 next year. Joining them will be fellow commits Dana Bender, Gracyn McQueary, and Shaw Barney.
