DURHAM, N.H. — The University of New Hampshire women’s swimming and diving team earned a 236-117 win against Central Connecticut State on opening weekend of home action over the two-day meet at Swasey Pool.
UNH won 16 of 19 events over the two-day meet against the Blue Devils, which included winning seven of 10 events yesterday and the ‘Cats swept all nine events on the final day of competition.
The Wildcats opened the day with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:48.50, which was comprised of Megumi Komoto (Schaumburg, Ill.), Jamy Lum (Honolulu, Hawaii), Abby McKinney (Westfield, N.J.) and Cate Wardinski (Burke, Va.).
Senior Anna Metzler (Regensburg, Germany) posted a time of 4:23.17 for first-place in the 400 IM, her specialty event.
Juniors Olivia Stille (Stockholm, Sweden) won the 100 free (53.80), while Madison Linstedt (Marion, Ohio) got the victory in the 200 back (2:09.95).
“We took away a lot of good things this weekend, CCSU is a talented and well-coached team and they always bring out our best,” said UNH head coach Josh Willman. “Our swimmers and divers were excited to finally race in our home pool and we had a lot of in-season best performances that confirm the work is paying off. We look forward to next weekend at Siena as we move closer to our Winter Invitational at Brown.”
Freshman Emma Clarke (Avon, N.Y.) was victorious in the 1-meter dive with 207.23, while Keira Moon (Middleton, Mass.) was right behind her for the ‘Cats with 199.57 points in the second spot.
Freshman Chiara Pradissitto (Milan, Italy) registered a time of 57.81 for the win in the 100 fly and Metzler also took first-place in the 500 free (5:04.50), while Lum won the 200 breast at 2:20.51.
UNH won the second relay of the day in the 400 free with a time of 3:32.78, made up of Metzler, Pradissitto, Stille and McKinney.
The Wildcats return to action on Saturday, November 6th at Siena. Meet time is 11 a.m. from the Siena Swim Center.

TOP PERFORMANCES
- 200 Yard Medley Relay – The Blue Devils’ relay of junior Hallie Perrin, Alex Lindgren, Jeannette King and freshman Ashley Calderon led a trio of CCSU relays in the days first event. The Central ‘A’ relay finished in 1:50.81 to earn two points.
- 400 Yard IM – Freshman Morgan O’Hara placed second with a time of 4:40.79 , while classmate Marley Milne finished in 5:01.44.
- 100 Yard Free – King was narrowly edged out for the win, clocking in at 53.87 to place second. Sophomore Shannon Welcome finished with a time of 54.27 and Perrin swam in 56.88 to round out the CCSU contingent.
- 200 Yard Back – Freshman Nathalie Pena led a trio of CCSU swimmers with a time of 2:12.09. She was followed by Calderon (2:14.85) and junior Kaylin McMahon (2:21.12).
- 1-Meter Diving – Freshman Zoe Baker scored 199.20 to place third, while classmate Elyse Boothroyd had 179.77 to score for CCSU.
- 100 Yard Fly – Calderon placed third in 58.16, while freshman Cassidy Stotler scored with a time of 59.30.
- 500 Yard Fee – Junior Katie Czulewicz placed second in 5:15.18, as the Blue Devils finished 2-3-4 in the event. Welcome was just behind in 5:15.93, while freshman Abbey Keane clocked in at 5:17.39.
- 200 Yard Breast- Lindgren paced the Central swimmers with a time of 2:23.90. Junior Mariana Espino scored with a time of 2:33.15, while sophomore Abbby Bacon clocked in at 2:36.01.
- 400 Yard Free Relay – The Blue Devils finished 2-3 in the final event of the weekend. The relay of Czulewicz, Welcome, King and junior Simona Visinski finished in 3:39.93. The ‘B’ relay of Perrin, Cassidy Stotler, Kelly Stotler and O’Hara finished in 3:43.44.
UP NEXT
The Blue Devils will be back in the pool on Dec. 3-5 when they host the Blue Devil Invite at the Jack Suydam Natatorium.
