Monique Rae, a native of Sydney, Australia, has signed to swim for the University of Houston women’s swimming and diving team next fall. Houston head coach Ryan Wochomurka announced addition to the 2018-19 signing class, saying:
“We are excited to welcome Monique to the Cougar family. She will make an immediate impact at the conference level. As we learned more about Monique through the recruiting process, she stood out as a perfect fit for our culture here at UH.”
Rae is currently a freshman at Wyoming where she competed in freestyle and backstroke events. She placed fourth in the 200 back at the 2018 Mountain West Conference Championships, with a time (1:55.79) that would have made her runner-up at the AAC Championships and set a Houston program record. She also placed 19th in the 500 free (4:53.17) and 22nd in the 100 back (56.27), which would have landed her in the A and B finals of those respective events at AACs.
Top SCY times:
- 200 back – 1:55.57
- 100 back – 56.04
- 50 back – 27.08
- 500 free – 4:53.17
- 200 free – 1:53.53

Wow, Northern Colorado sure became the place to go for the UND swimmers. Glad they were able to find homes.
Minor detail, but the NLI program does not extend to transfers, so while Monique decided to transfer, it is unlikely she signed an NLI. If she did, the NLI is meaningless.
