INDIANAPOLIS – Milwaukee’s Jay Jensen and Nhia Caras earned Nike® #HLSD Swimmers of the Week. Jensen recorded five individual wins across two dual meets this weekend. Caras picked up two individual wins, along with being a part of two relay wins. UIC’s Felix Lafortune and Cydney Liebenberg earned Nike® #HLSD Divers of the Week. Lafortune won the 3-meter dive and placed second in the 1-meter dive at the UIC Diving Invitational. Liebenberg dove to two more first place finishes, picking up wins in the 3-meter and 1-meter events at the UIC Diving Invitational.

Jay Jensen put together an impressive weekend as the Panthers wrapped up the dual season with a pair of wins. The sophomore recorded five individual wins over the two duals, starting with two on Friday against St. Thomas. Jensen won the 1000 freestyle at 9:40.48 and followed that with a win in the 500 free at 4:42.99. On Saturday against UW-Stevens Point, he collected a trio of victories in the 200 free (1:43.10), 100 free (47.17), and 200 IM (1:55.19).

Nhia Caras tallied a pair of individual wins to help the Panthers finish a perfect 7-0 in dual meets this season. The freshman won the 100 free on Friday against St. Thomas with a time of 52.01 and won the 50 free Saturday against UW-Stevens Point at 23.89. Caras was also a part of two relays wins for Milwaukee, helping the team set a new season best time in the 200 free relay on Saturday.

Felix Lafortune claimed first place in the 3-meter event, and took second in 1-meter, at the UIC Diving Invitational. Lafortune was coming off a program record performance in 3-meter, and while his score of 373.85 was well off his new record, it was also his second-highest score of the season by nearly the same margin. His win in 3-meter was his fifth of the season. He scored 317.60 in taking second in 1-meter.

Cydney Liebenberg added two more wins to her impressive season total, sweeping the 1- and 3-meter events at the UIC Diving Invitational. Facing divers from two Horizon League schools (Green Bay and Milwaukee) as well as Illinois, Chicago, and other regional squads, Liebenberg scored 309.00 in the 1-meter event, and 324.30 in the 3-meter. Both of those scores were season highs, and they gave her a total of 11 NCAA Zone-qualifying scores on the season. She has finished first on the 1-meter board in six of seven meets this season, and has five first-place showings on the 3-meter board.
