GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Action continued inside El Pomar Natatorium as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Swimming & Diving programs continued their quest to earn RMAC Championship titles.
200-Yard Freestyle Relay
In the women’s race, the Mavericks’ squad of Bret Congdon, Noel Scott, Natalie Saul and Lauren White recorded Colorado Mesa’s first title of the night with a time of 1:33.82.
Oklahoma Baptist’s quartet of Estevao, Hornos, Alexander Leff, Daniel Santos and Colton Wyatt came out on top of an exciting race that came down to the wire with a photo finish.
Both Oklahoma Christian men’s and women’s relays set new school records. The women finished the race with a time of 1:38.08 while the men closed with a time of 1:22.51.
400-Yard Individual Medley
April Woods, a senior out of Colorado School of Mines, swam away to a victory with a school record time of 4:27.48.
In the men’s race, Jake Simmons of Colorado Mesa claimed the title in front of his home crowd as he finished in a time of 4:01.56
100-Yard Butterfly
Daphn Williams of Colorado School of Mines topped the field as she hit the timing pad in 54.68.
Colorado Mesa’s Pedro Terres Illescas won the 100-yard butterfly for the second year in a row with a time of 48.13. Coming in second, Charles Burroughs of Colorado School of Mines broke his own school record with a time of 48.83.
200-Yard Freestyle
Mia Woods of Colorado School of Mines nearly missed the RMAC Championship record by swimming to a time of 1:49.39.
Freshman Daniel Santos of Oklahoma Baptist then jumped in the pool and swam to an RMAC title with a time of 1:39.86.
Men’s 1-meter dive
The two-time defending NCAA individual champion, Ammar Hassan of Colorado Mesa, defended his title with a scoring a total of 562.80 points which is a NCAA ‘A” standard.
400-Yard Medley Relay
The Mavericks’ quartet of Lauren White, Sam White, Candice Rosen and Maddie Pressler raced their to an event title as they swam to a time of 3:47.61.
Colorado Mesa’s squad compose of Lane Austin, Mahmoud Elgayar, Pedro Terres Illescas and Noah Vallee would take the last race of day 2 with a time of 3:17.76.
