DAY 8 FINALS HEAT SHEET

Day 8 Finals Relay Line-Ups

With over a million possible relay combinations, and that doesn’t include individuals, it’s been very hard to surmise not only who but where each swimmer is going to swim. You can catch up on our thoughts about the event before the Opening Ceremonies and what we speculated the relay line-ups would be this morning, but without further ado, here are tonight’s starting 32.

Lane 1 – France: Yohann Ndoye-Brouard, Leon Marchand, Marie Wattel, Beryl Gastaldello

France moves Wattel to the fly leg and brings in Gastaldello for the free. Marchand jumps into the breast after a strong swim this morning.

Lane 2 – Great Britain: Kathleen Dawson, James Wilby, Duncan Scott, Anna Hopkin

With Adam Peaty absent, Wilby remains, and Duncan Scott jumps into the fly leg, replacing Joe Litchfield.

Lane 3 – China: Xu Jiayu, Qin Haiyang, Zhang Yufei, Yang Junxuan

In the prelims china went MFFM, but will flip to MMFF. They bring  in Qin Hiyang and then close with Zhang and Yang,

Lane 4 – USA:  Ryan Murphy, Nic Fink, Gretchen Walsh, Torri Huske

USA moves from FMMF to MMFF, swimming in all new legs. Each swimmer has at least one medal to their name in their corresponding stroke.

Lane 5 – Austalia: Kaylee McKeown, Joshua Yong, Matthew Temple, Mollie O’Callaghan

Australia, too, changes its order, swapping from an unusual FMFM to their tried and true method of FMMF, with only Joshua Yong remaining.

Lane 6 – Netherlands: Kira Toussaint, Caspar Corbeau, Nyls Korstanje, Marrit Steenbergen

As expected, the Dutch switched from MMFF to FMMF to utilize the strength of Kortanje.

Lane 7 – Canada: Kylie Masse, Finlay Knox, Josh Liendo, Maggie MacNeil

As expected, the Canadian switched from MMFF to FMMF to utilize the strength of Masse on the back and Liendo on the fly.

Lane 8 – Japan: Riku Matsuyama, Taku Taniguchi, Mizuki Hirai, Rikako Ikee

As predicted, the Japanese made no changes.
