Maggie Davenport will return to her alma mater as the next head coach of the women’s-only program at Siena College.
Davenport replaces Brogan Barr as Barr joined the LSU staff this summer as an assistant coach. Barr has been the head coach of the program since August 2020. Davenport now is the 7th head coach in program history.
“We’re excited to welcome Maggie home to lead our Siena Women’s Swimming and Diving program,” said D’Argenio. “She’s proven to be a rising young coach in the profession who has been mentored by Siena Hall of Famer Molly Chamberlain ’11, HOF ’23.”
Davenport arrives at Siena after most recently spending two seasons as assistant coach of both the men’s and women’s programs at Division III Union College. Union is only about a 20-minute drive away from Siena. While at Union, the team had 16 new all-time top 10 swims under Davenport’s guidance. In addition, the men’s program set three new school records this past season.

Siena is a very special place and this is a very special team. I’m looking forward to working with this incredible group of student athletes as we build on the strong foundation of the Siena Women’s Swimming and Diving program.”
Prior to her time at Union, Davenport was an assistant coach of SUNY New Paltz for the 2021-2022 season. She also brings club coaching experience to Siena as she was the head coach of Schenectady Saratoga Sharks the last two years.
Davenport spent her student-athlete career at Siena, graduating in 2018 with a bachelor’s in biology. She specialized in freestyle and breaststroke and swam on the team’s 200 and 400 freestyle and medley relays throughout her career. She spent a year volunteering with non-profits after graduation before going on to earn her master’s in kinesiology in 2022.
The Siena women finished 7th out of 10 teams this past season at the MAAC Championships. The team was led by diver Talia Spenziero who scored 32 individual points.
