Kyle Chalmers, Lukas Märtens Among Stacked Field Headed To Swim Open Stockholm

2025 SWIM OPEN STOCKHOLM

The 2025 Swim Open Stockholm is set to get underway this weekend with the four-day competition representing a qualification opportunity for this summer’s World Championships.

Although Sweden’s own superstar Sarah Sjostrom will not be competing, taking this year off of racing as she expects her first child, the list of athletes still carries some elite weight from the host nation and beyond.

Straight off the Bergen Swim Festival, 26-year-old Kyle Chalmers from Australia continues on here. The Olympic multi-medalist highlights the men’s sprints, carrying momentum from last week where he notched a huge swim of 47.27 in the 100m free followed by a lifetime best of 21.78 in the 50m free.

Germany’s Lukas Märtens is also expected to attend, racing in his first meet since February’s North German Long Distance Championships. In Braunschweig, the reigning Olympic gold medalist in the 400m free put up a solid outing of 7:50.61 to rank 5th in the world in the men’s 800m freestyle event.

Additional visiting talent entered in the meet includes American Kieran Smith, Dutchman Kenzo Simons, Tunisia’s Ahmed Jaouadi and Lithuanian Ruta Meilutyte.

Domestic stars include Louise Hansson, Sophie Hansson, Sara Junevik, and Victor Johansson.
