Katie McLaughlin Wins 200 IM to Close Stanford Futures

STANFORD FUTURES CHAMPIONSHIPS

The women’s 100 free was quick– four swimmers broke 57, led by Amalie Fackenthal (56.51) of DART. 2nd went to PASA’s Leah Goldman (56.66), followed by SCSC 15-year-old Cathy Teng (56.75) and 14-year-old Ella Ristic of Mission Viejo. Ristic posted a 56.94, the same time that Tristen Ulett went at the Atlanta Futures tonight– the two girls now are tied for 23rd in the 13-14 all time rankings.

Goldman came back in the 400 medley relay to provide a solid 56.25 anchor leg, helping PASA secure the win there.

Katie McLaughlin, a rising sophomore with the Cal Golden Bears, took the 200 IM win for Mission Viejo with a 2:15.59. The men’s race went to Brentwood’s Daniel Comforti in 2:06.01.

In the 200 back, the women’s race went to Sierra Marlins’ Jennifer Lathrop (2:15.74) while the men’s race went to PASA’s Alex Liang in 2:04.39. Liang’s older brother Andrew posted a 51.21 to knock off Benjamin Ho (51.45) in the men’s 100 free.

The distance events went to Stephanie Su in the women’s 1500 (16:55.57) and George Horvath in the men’s 800 (8:13.28). The final event was the men’s 400 medley relay, which ended in a tie between PASA and the Terrapins Swim Team at 3:49.93.
