Jordan Agliano to Transfer With-in the SEC, Commits to South Carolina

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

After spending her first collegiate season with the University of Kentucky, Jordan Agliano has announced she will be transferring within the SEC to the University of South Carolina. Prior to college Agliano trained with the Highlander Aquatic Club in Orlando, Florida.

“After much consideration I’ve decided to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of South Carolina. I am so grateful to my parents and Coach Todd for their endless support and guidance, and to Coach Poppell for this amazing opportunity. See you in a couple weeks Columbia!! Go Gamecocks ❤️”

Agliano only appeared in three meets for the Wildcats last fall, appearing in dual meets against Indiana, NC State, and Texas A&M.

When she committed to Kentucky, Agliano was slated to be a key addition to the program in the sprint freestyle and butterfly events. Coming out of high school, she had already been as fast as 52.91 in the 100 fly and led Kentucky’s recruiting class in the 200 free (1:46.74).

Before joining the Kentucky program, Agliano was already an Olympic Trials qualifier and National Championships finalist in the long course pool as well. In 2021 she contested both the 200 back (2:18.73) and 100 fly (1:01.98) at Wave 2 of Olympic Trials, missing finals in both races. A year later she finished in the B-final of the 200 fly at the 2022 Phillips 66 National Championships, taking 15th in a lifetime best of 2:13.38.

Top SCY Times

  • 50 free – 23.39
  • 100 free – 50.18
  • 200 free – 1:46.74
  • 500 free – 4:47.22
  • 100 back – 55.26
  • 200 back – 1:58.56
  • 100 fly – 52.91
  • 200 fly – 1:58.29
  • 200 IM – 2:01.92
  • 400 IM – 4:24.73

If Agliano is able to get back to her lifetime best times, she’ll be a huge addition to the Gamecock team from her first days in Columbus. Last season, she would have been the team’s third-fastest performer in the 200 free and 100 fly.

Agliano’s lifetime bests would have earned her a spot in the C-final of both the 200 free and both butterfly events at the 2023 SEC Swimming and Diving Championships earlier this year.

Since Jeff Poppell took the program over in the spring of 2021, the Gamecocks have seen steady improvement at the conference level. In 2023, their 8th-place finish at the SEC Championships equaled their highest placing while their 587 points was the second most in program history. The team finished in 10th with 460 points in 2022.

The SEC eliminated its intraconference transfer rules in 2021, meaning that Agliano is now eligible to compete immediately. Most NCAA conferences no longer have intraconference transfer restrictions.
