Pittsburgh Elite Aquatics Head Upper St. Clair Site Coach

 Title:                  PEAQ Head Site Coach, Upper St. Clair                           

FT Salary:            $55,000 annually with potential for additional earnings 

 Location:            Upper St. Clair High School Pool (Pittsburgh, PA); all PEAQ Long Course Pools

Experience: 5+ years of coaching experience, with coaching experience in a leadership role preferred. College swimmers are also preferred.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Head Age Group Coach at Upper St. Clair (“USC”)
    1. Management and oversight for all Age Groups up to Junior at USC and assistant coach for Senior group at USC. 
    2. Primary coach for USC Junior and Age Group 4.
    3. At USC, provides management, assistance and oversight of assistant coaches responsible for lower age groups as well as any other assistant coach at AG4 and Junior groups.
    4. Establishing athlete training plans and goals that are appropriate for each age group at USC up through Juniors.
    5. Setting age-appropriate goals for, and overseeing the skill development and seasonal progression of, individual swimmers at USC up through Juniors. 
    6. Working with other head site coaches to establish uniform goals and standards for all age group swimmers across the whole of PEAQ. Works with all staff at meets, events and functions.
    7. Management of the transition of swimmers between age groups at USC with input for other age group assistant coaches.
    8. Attending all meets and practice sessions in accordance with a schedule approved in conjunction with the head swim coach.
    9. Write daily practice for at least AG4 and Juniors at USC; helps assistants with writing practices for other age groups.
    10. Reporting to the head swim coach, on a regular basis, as to the status of the swim program, including the performance and development of the athletes and assistant coaches reporting to You.
    11. With head coach, providing direction, leadership and assistance with overall club management and administration.
  2. Head Summer League Coach for PEAQ’s summer league team at USC (Wahoos) June-July. Evening-based short course summer league team that swims at of USC HS’s pool with established league of summer league teams from other local suburbs. This team consists of a mixture of both PEAQ swimmers and non-PEAQ swimmers and acts as a feeder program into PEAQ’s lower age groups.
    1. Responsibilities would include running practices, managing assistant coaches and coach volunteers, acting as head coach at all summer league meets, taking lead in communications with parents and swimmers. Expectation during long course is that Head Upper St. Clair Site Coach would continue to maintain long course responsibilities, which includes practices in the mornings, and also managing the summer league team in the evenings. 

Potential Additional Sources of Income*

  1. Middle School Swim Coach for Upper St. Clair School’s men’s and women’s teams – seven (7) week program; September – October annually, for 7th and 8th graders with substantial PEAQ swimmer overlap. 
  2. Assistant Varsity Swim Coach for Upper St. Clair High School’s men’s and women’s teams. Winter season (November – March) with substantial PEAQ swimmer overlap. 

*Opportunity for high school and middle school coaching, for the right candidate, with additional compensation from the district. Note, assistant varsity high school and middle school coaching positions are separate job opportunities that will be hired directly by the local school district and not by PEAQ.

  1. Social Media – additional compensation potential for managing PEAQ’s social media presence for both USC site and other PEAQ sites.  
  2. Club Programs – additional compensation potential for management and oversight of PEAQ programs, including dry land/strength and conditioning, diving, clinics, swim lessons, and any other as established by Head Coach and You. 

Additional Information:

    1. Additional Responsibilities: Together with the Head Coach, develops and implements of a comprehensive swim club program that is designed to enhance the development of swimmers in all age groups. Communicates effectively with parents concerning their swimmers, and with other swim coaches. Establishes an environment that fosters positive team attitudes and encourages self-discipline, sportsmanship and responsibility among swimmers, coaches and PEAQ members. Administers and enforces rules, regulations, policies and procedures established by the head swim coach, the PEAQ board of directors, Allegheny Mountain Swimming and USA Swimming.
    2. Supervisor: You will report to PEAQ’s Head Coach
    3. Bonus: You will also be eligible for a year-end discretionary performance bonus. Bonuses are typically paid in August following the end of Long Course Season. 
    4. USA Swimming and State Clearances: You will be responsible for gaining and maintaining all necessary USA Swimming registration, transfers, and certifications and all Pennsylvania background clearances. 
    5. Paid Time Off (PTO):  In addition to several built-in days off in the school year calendar, and several weeks in August due to the end of Long Course Season, You will receive 10 days of paid time off annually. 
  • Expenses: PEAQ will either provide directly, or by reimbursement, all reasonable expenses for meals, hotels, airfare, rental cars, and mileage incurred while performing duties at swim meets and other swimming related events that require overnight accommodations. 
  • Further Education: PEAQ will reimburse You for any ASCA certifications achieved while employed by PEAQ. PEAQ values coach education and will pay for other coach educational experiences that are regularly budgeted and approved on an annual basis.
