Lead Age Group Coach – Full Time with Benefits!

Waterloo Swimming is seeking a Lead Group Coach for one of our 11-14 year old training groups for the 2024-2025 SCY Season. 

Waterloo Swimming is a USA Swimming Bronze Medal swim club located in North Austin, TX. Currently operating out of one location featuring an Olympic sized, 50M pool, WLOO is home to just over 400 athletes ranging from Junior National finalists to beginning club swimmers. WLOO has finished in the top-five of the Texas Age Group State Championships (TAGS) for the last five seasons. 

We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable swim coach to direct and lead one of our A cut training groups. This group ranges in age from 11-14. The swimmers in this group are aiming to achieve BB and A times on the USA National Age Group Motivational Time Standards in multiple strokes and be competitive at the LSC Championship meet. 

Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate technique-driven processes in their practice writing and season plan as well speak about their experience in developing athletes, administrative work off-deck, and effectively communicating with athletes, parents, and staff. 

We believe the best coaches have had experience at all levels of our sport, and it is our goal to provide that education to our entire staff. Each WLOO coach has the opportunity to work with all groups in our program as well as take the lead on team projects such as meet management, clinic operations, parent education or new swimmer outreach to further help build their resumes.

Duties and skills of the Lead Swim Coach include but are not limited to:

• Abide by the American Swimming Coaches Association Code of Ethics, the USA Swimming Code of Conduct, and Waterloo Swimming policies and procedures.
• Plan, prepare, and conduct team practices in accordance with our curriculum, practice schedules, and be supportive of the overall philosophy and direction of Waterloo Swimming.
• Grow, coach, oversee, and manage our Waterloo Swimming program by writing and executing workouts, attending meets, entering swimmers into meets via software, running clinics, and social functions. Teach proper swim techniques and stroke mechanics
• Is willing and motivated to work/be involved on multiple fronts within the organization- leading or assisting with fundraisers, special events and team-builders, clinics, camps, evaluation process, attend home and away meets, and participate in coaches’ education opportunities.
• Assist other coaches/instructors as needed within Waterloo Swimming and communicate regularly with counterpart group coaches. Recommend group practice assignments for each swimmer. Substitute for other coaches as needed. Prepare and submit swimmers’ meet entries and attend assigned swim meets.
• Interact effectively with parents
• Keep records and reports as directed by the Head Coach. Maintaining a safe pool environment during practices (water quality checks/pool area clean up/etc)

  Serve as the Assistant Swim Coach for the team’s competitive swim
  program:

  Develop and implement comprehensive training programs
  across all team/group levels tailored to the needs and
  abilities of each practice group, focusing on skill
  development, stroke progression, tactical knowledge, and
  physical fitness.

• Assessment and assignment of swimmers to training groups and appropriate goal setting.
• Coaching job for age group and elite swimmers
• Propose the competition calendar for the short course, long course, and championship seasons.
• Maintain regular and efficient communication with swimmers, parents,
• Work collaboratively with coaching staff
• Work collaboratively with the parent volunteers providing monthly progress reports regarding athlete performance.
• Provide personalized coaching and feedback to individual athletes to help them achieve their maximum potential.
• Desirable Qualifications:
  3+ years coaching experience demonstrating a record of successful
  leadership with both developmental and elite swimmers in technique,
  race strategy, stroke mechanics, age-appropriate dryland training, swimming middle distance and distance swimming techniques and training methodologies. Strong understanding of overall
  balance of training for distance and sprint, taper techniques.
   Proficient in use of coaching software (e.g. XPS), Microsoft Office
  (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint – or equivalent) and email.
   Reliability, availability, and ethical behaviour including punctuality,
  confidentiality, professionalism, positive and constructive feedback.

Desirable qualifications

• 3 years+ experience as Swim Coach at the club or collegiate level
• Experience as a competitive swimmer, preferably at a collegiate level
• Proficient in use of Meet Manager, Timing System platforms
• Proven coaching experience of five or more years and track of proven
  success with both developmental and elite swimmers in technique, race
  strategy, training methodologies, and results.

Work Hours: Assistant Coach is a full-time exempt position with irregular hours
including evenings and weekends. The position will also require working weekend
meets with participation in meets.
Breidablik Swim Club
The Breidablik Swim Club has guided, trained and motivated swimmers at all levels
of recreational training and competitive swimming since 1968. The Breidablik swim
club is a member of The Icelandic Swimming Association (SSÍ) that operates within
The National Olympic and Sports Association of Iceland (ÍSÍ).

The facilities include both 25m and 50m pools at two locations in the town
Kopavogur (in the Capital Region). The swimming pools are part of the infrastructure
of geothermal pools that have evolved within the unique swim loving culture in
Iceland. While we have highly successful competitive swim team, we also foster the
ideology that every person has the potential to pursue swimming lifestyle.

The team has had several participants that have won place in the national team level
and its future youth programs. During current long course season Breidablik team
members will be representing Iceland at the following international events:
– 3x Swimmers going to the Nordic Age Group Championships in June
– 1x Swimmer going to the European Junior Championships in July

The Head Men’s & Women’s Swimming Coach is responsible for providing the vision, leadership, and strategic planning in directing and supervising all activities related to the recruitment, teaching, training, and skill development of scholar-athletes in preparation for intercollegiate competitions. The Head Coach demonstrates establishing positive, mutually respectful, and effective working relationships with scholar-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty, alumni, and the public in supporting the University’s mission to educate global thinkers, resilient problem solvers, and future leaders, ready to support industry and societal needs by responsibly integrating science, technology, and other key disciplines to advance knowledge across the universe and Florida Tech athletics mission of developing diverse athletes into scholars, champions, and leaders prepared to become global influencers in their relentless pursuit of greatness. Responsibilities Include:

• Responsible for providing a positive scholar-athlete experience centered on their physical and mental health in the organization, implementing, oversight, and present at all regular practice sessions and competitions in developing, instructing, and motivating scholar-athletes in fundamentals, techniques, and strategies to achieve a high-level performance individually and as a team.
• Lead the evaluation and recruitment of athletically talented and academically qualified scholar-athletes, supporting the University’s mission and philosophy in monitoring, overseeing, and supporting academic success. Comply with the academic policies established by the University and the NCAA and maintain an environment where higher education is prioritized, as reflected by class attendance, grade point averages, the NCAA Academic Success Rate (ASR), and federal graduation rates.
• Assist with maintaining the Aquatics Center and lifeguard scheduling and oversight in collaboration with the Associate Athletic Director for Facilities, the Assistant Coach, and the pool service provider.
• Lead the administrative operations, adhering to all athletic and university policies and protocols, using all athletic and university software and technology systems, including equipment inventory and distribution, documentation, and coordination of all travel arrangements, ordering of all equipment supplies and maintenance, camp/clinic and community service organization and implementation.
• Develop, implement, and oversee the sports operating budget provided by the university. Develop fundraising activities and events to supplement the budget needs of the program, including cooperating fully with the University in promoting the Program, the University’s Athletics Advancement fundraising, the University, the University’s Alumni Association, and other University-affiliated organizations.  Such cooperation includes, but is not limited to, (a) attendance and participation at meetings, events, and media outlets of the University and University-affiliated organizations; (b) endorsement of products and performance of promotional services; and (c) personal appearances, in each case as directed by the Director of Athletics.
• Other duties assigned by the Deputy Athletic Director.

Requirements Include:

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent knowledge obtained through a combination of education, training and experience)
• First Aid/CPR, Certified Pool Operator, Certified Lifeguard
• Minimum 5–8 years of experience required in area of expertise
• Previous collegiate, club, or high school head coaching or assistant coaching experience

Annual Security & Fire Safety Report

The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) requires colleges and universities, both public and private, participating in federal student aid programs to disclose campus safety information, and imposes certain basic requirements for handling incidents of sexual violence and emergency situations.

Florida Tech’s 2023 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Florida Tech; and on public properly within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.

The numbers provided include crime statistics that were reported to local law enforcement agencies, campus security and other Campus Security Authorities.

The report also includes institutional policy statements regarding campus safety and security measures; descriptions of prevention and awareness programs; related university procedures and important guidance; and other essential safety information.
