Palm Desert Swim Club is currently seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and encouraging assistant coach to work with our 12 and under swimmers.

Position summary: PDSC is looking for a coach to work with our developmental athletes. These athletes range from 6-12 years old. The ideal candidate should have a background in competitive swimming and coaching, with a passion for developing young athletes. They should also possess a willingness to learn and a self-starter attitude. Knowledge of stroke techniques, USA swimming rules and training methods as well as USA Swimming certifications are highly desirable.

Work hours: The Assistant Coach position is required to be present at all assigned practices. Hours range from 3-12 per week depending on experience, desire and availability.

Responsibilities:
Assist the Head Coach with administering age and ability appropriate workouts.
Provide constructive feedback and technical instruction to swimmers.
Establish and maintain an environment that fosters positive team attitudes, encourages self-discipline, sportsmanship and responsibility.
Communicate effectively with swimmers, parents and other coaches.
Encourage meet and practice attendance.
Prompt attendance at all scheduled practices.
Maintain professional relationships with the Head Coach, coaching staff and facility staff.

Required Skills:
Red Cross (or equivalent) CPR/AED Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches Online and In Water (or equivalent) Certifications or ability to obtain within 30 days.
USA Swimming Quality Coaching Framework Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.

Pay: The position is a part-time hourly role. The hourly rate starts at $22.50 per hour. Rate may be increased based on the candidate’s experience.
