How Does Lilly King’s Training Prepare Her for Close Races?

After finding herself not at the top of the podium (or missing it altogether) for the last couple years in the 100 breast, Lilly King struck gold tonight in Melbourne. King Explains how Ray Looze has trained her to be comfortable swimming breaststroke tired, so the Olympic champ is very familiar with the feeling that comes on the last 25.

King also explains her reaction after the 100 breast semi-final when she was noticeably fired up after winning the heat, which included Ruta Meilutyte. “I don’t like it when people try to out-wait me on blocks,” King said, which seemed to point to Meilutyte. “I was already a little pissed off going into it from a previous meet, so it was kind of a long, pre-meditated celebration I guess”.
