At their Bureau meeting in Barcelona, Spain in the run-up to the World Championships that start next FINA, among the decisions made by FINA include awarding the hosting bids for the 2015 and 2017 World Junior Championships.
After the 4th edition of the meet this year is held in Dubai, the 5th edition in 2015 will be in Singapore, and the 6th edition will be in Budapest, Hungary. That takes the meet to two new regions after the first three editions were held in South and Central America.
Both cities have been prior hosts of major international swim meets, with Singapore having hosted the inaugural Youth Olympic games in 2010, and Budapest hosting the European Aquatics Championships in 1926, 1958, 2006, and 2010 (and Hungary co-hosting in Debrecen in 2012). Singapore has also been a frequent host on the FINA World Cup circuit.
This event has been a bit tenuous in the past, with Dubai having to step in this year as a last-minute host after Casablanca, Morocco pulled out from its duties.
