WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women’s swimming and diving team earned their first home victory this season, a 172-128 win in the Hart Center Pool against Maine Saturday afternoon.
The win levels the Crusader record at 2-2 while the Black Bears slide to 1-2. The victory was the third straight for Holy Cross against Maine.
The women captured victories in 13 of 16 events in the dual meet. The 200-yard butterfly finish was huge for the team with sophomore Sabrina Conrad (2:11.19) and freshman Megan Nelson (2:11.88) hitting the wall first and second respectively for 13 total points.
Sophomore Ainsley Nalen earned four first place showings as well as freshman Courtney Boghosian. Nalen had individual first place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.91), the 500-yard freestyle (5:15.34) and was a part of the 200-yard medley relay team (1:48.47) and the 400-yard freestyle relay team (3:35.78). Boghosian participated in both of those relay events and competed as an individual in the 100-yard backstroke (59.99) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.09).
In the diving events, junior Ciara Scamby scored a 251.78 for first place in the one-meter dive and nine points to the team total.
Holy Cross will compete in the three day Harold Anderson Invitational hosted by Rhode Island starting on Nov. 17 and concluding on Nov. 19.
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men’s swimming and diving team picked up their first victory of the season dispatching Maine 185-113 in the Hart Center Pool Saturday afternoon.
The Crusaders won their second dual meet against the Black Bears over the last three years and improve to 1-3 overall while Maine skids to 1-1.
Holy Cross won 14 of 16 events on the afternoon. Sophomore Jack Greiner registered a pair of individual first place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.55) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:55.56) and a pair of relay wins in the 200-yard medley (1:34.91) and the 400-yard freestyle (3:08.97).
Senior Charlie Nascimben also had two first place performances in the 50-yard freestyle (21.55) and the 100-yard freestyle (46.93) while being a part of the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Sophomore Zach Bubonovich hit the wall first in the 100-yard breaststroke (57.80) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:10.64). He earned a win in the 200-yard medley as well.
Senior Tim Manzella earned his first collegiate win in the 200-yard individual medley completing the event in 2:00.22.
In the diving events, freshman Luke Parada scored a 298.13 in the one-meter dive producing nine points to the team total also resetting his program record in the process.
Holy Cross hosts Maine in a dual meet on Saturday, Nov. 11 at noon in the Hart Center Pool.

Worcester, Mass. — The University of Maine women’s swim & dive team dropped a 172-128 decision at Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon.
Kennady Kilger led the Black Bears after scoring a win in the 50-yard freestyle (24.97) before taking second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.38.
Eva Welsh won the 200 IM at 2:10.57 and was the runner-up in the 200 breaststroke with a final time of 2:26.31.
Isabelle Irani had a strong showing, placing second in the 100 butterfly at 1:00.47 and third in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:16.29.
Maine added 11 other podium finishes with six runner-up showings.
On the boards, Ashley LeClaire won the 3m with a score of 268.05 and was the runner-up in the 1m at 245.93. Haylie Calver placed second in the 3m at 257.25.
The team of Madison Edwards, Kayla Loughman, Irani, and Kilger teamed up to place second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:49.83.
Loughman, Mia Poirier, Hannah Deighan, and Kilger touched the wall second in the 400 freestyle relay at 3:36.06.
Worcester, Mass. — The University of Maine men’s swim & dive team fell at Holy Cross, 185-113, on Saturday afternoon.
Cam Watelet registered Maine’s lone swim victory on the day, taking first in the 100-yard butterfly with a final time of 52.32.
Riley Clark added a victory on the diving boards, winning the 3m dive with a score of 259.05 before placing as the runner-up on the 1m board at 281.48.
Finn Devers took silver in both the 200 freestyle (1:45.40) and the 100 freestyle (47.58). Nick Partridge placed second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 58.53 and touched the wall second in the 200 breaststroke at 2:15.78.
Kaden Kilger found the podium three-times. Kilger was the runner-up in the 50 freestyle (22.24) and placed third in both the 1000 freestyle (10:11.36) and the 500 freestyle (4:53.62).
Maine’s team of Nick Scott, Partridge, Watelet, and Devers were the runner-up in the 200 medley relay with a final time of 1:35.20.
Devers, Watelet, Zareck Tello, and Kilger placed second in the 400 freestyle relay at 3:10.74.
