Grace Countie Leads Prelims with 22.5 50 FR, 24.7 50 BK at NCSAs

Marlins of Raleigh’s Grace Countie raced to two top prelims times this morning in Orlando, taking the top seed in the 50 back and 50 free. She was 24.77 in the 50 back, ahead of NCAP’s Phoebe Bacon (24.81) and Aquajets’ Abigail Kapeller (25.06). In the 50 free, Countie posted a 22.53 to beat out Scottsdale Aquatic Club’s Claire Grover (22.61) and Delta Aquatics’ Grace Cooper (22.74).

Grace Sheble of NOVA of Virginia is the top seed in the 200 IM for finals tonight, setting herself up for another individual NCSA title. She was 1:59.16 this morning, six tenths off of her lifetime best.

Machine Aquatics’ Casey Storch got to the wall first in the 200 IM prelims, leading a tight bunch of swimmers with his 1:48.55. Close behind were NCAP’s Sean Conway (1:48.67), Vipers of Albuquerque’s Josh Harlan (1:48.68), and Lexington Dolphins’ Zachary Hils (1:48.75).

In the 50 back, Sylvania Tsunami’s Robert Kondalski swam to a prelims-leading time of 22.48, which was just ahead of Academy Bullets’ Spencer Walker (22.55) and Hudson Area’s Mitchell Whyte (22.62). In the 50 free, twins Willie and Isaac Davis of Metro Atlanta Aquatic Club finished 1-2, respectively. Willie was first in 20.24, with Isaac 2nd in 20.32. Not far behind them was Jack Dolan of Rockwood Swim Club (20.44).

In the 400 medley relay, Academy Bullets’ B relay posted a 3:22.80 for the quickest time on the boys’ side, while NCAP’s B relay was 3:42.69 on the girls’ side– the top relays will race tonight.
