Jack Leavitt, Georgetown University’s Head Swim & Dive Coach of nine years, is leaving his post to accept an athletic director position at Campbell Hall Episcopal School in Los Angeles.
Starting in July, Leavitt will oversee the private K-12 day school’s athletic department. Notable Campbell Hall alumni include the Olsen twins, movie director Paul James Anderson, and Modern Family star Ariel Winter. The Holiday brothers, Aaron, Jrue, and Justin, all of whom play for NBA teams, also attended Campbell Hall.
The school announced Leavitt’s appointment in a press release yesterday.
“We are confident that Jack’s talent, experience, and leadership will be a driving force in the continued success and growth of our athletic program,” said Campbell Hall’s Head of School, Julian Bull.
Georgetown hired Leavitt in 2016. He led the men’s team to its first-ever Big East conference title in 2022, and the team has won every year since. The Georgetown women’s team also won three conference runner-up titles under Leavitt’s lead. The Boston native received Georgetown Athletics’ Outstanding Coaching Achievement during his tenure at the DC University.
Prior to Georgetown, Leavitt served as the head coach at CalTech for three years. He also previously worked as an assistant coach at Army West Point, Harvard, and NYU. Leavitt has a number of personal athletic accolades, including three school records and a Big East conference title as a swimmer for Seton Hall University.
Leavitt will replace Brice London, Campbell Hall’s current intermittent AD, who previously served as CEO of a software company. Georgetown’s swim team found out about their coach’s departure Monday, according to a release from the University. A new head coach has not been announced. Leavitt will remain with the team through the end of the school year before leaving the program, which he said was his hardest decision ever.
“Coaching these student-athletes has been a privilege, and the bonds we’ve built extend far beyond competition,” Leavitt said about his Georgetown athletes. “I am so grateful for the opportunity to have led this program, and I leave knowing it is in great hands and primed for continued success.”
Leavitt also thanked his colleagues, including Pat McArdle and Lee Reed, for their support during his tenure.
“Georgetown will always be a part of me and my family. Hoya Saxa, forever.”
Coach Jack is a champion of a human being. His care for those around him as people is like no other. Campbell Hall is real lucky.
Can anyone estimate how much more $ a private school AD pays vs. a college team like Georgetown? I would honestly estimate it to be at least double.
Georgetown is a private school, but swimming as a sport overall is generally very undefunded. The difference between AD at a private school in LA and swim coach at Georgetown has to be enormous.
Tuition at CHES is 54k a year for 7-12 grades w/0 financial aid according to their website. K-6 is about 46k. They had 1,162 students enrolled last year. While that is way less than Georgetown tuition and enrollment, you have to factor in the position he took over.

When I was going through recruiting, Jack was the kindest guy. Genuinely wanted to get to know me and talk about my future. He’s done great things for Georgetown!

Not at all, go get that money. Swimming mostly is a very low paying job(there are exceptions of course), so happy for him if he did get a bag
