Claire vanBiljon, a current high school senior from Wildwood, Missouri, has committed to swim for Division 1 Missouri State University. vanBiljon will graduate from Lafayette High School in May 2020 and join the Bears’ class of 2024.
VanBiljon is currently a year-round swimmer for Rockwood Swim Club under the coaching of Mary Liston and she has been a finalist at every MSHSAA State Championship since 2016. At this year’s MSHSAA State meet vanBiljon placed 3rd in the 50 freestyle and 4th in the 100 freestyle.
In 2017, when Lafayette High School won the MSHSAA State, vanBiljon was on three of the team’s relays.
When vanBiljon joins the Bear’s in fall 2020, she will be joining her sister Lily vanBiljon who is a current swimmer for Missouri State. The sisters will have the opportunity to swim on the team together for a year before Lily graduates.

With her current best times, vanBiljon would have had multiple finals performances with the Bears at the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Championships. vanBiljon would have placed 6th in both the 100 freestyle (51.72) and 200 freestyle (1:52.34).
At the MVC Championships this year, Missouri State won their 15th conference title in program history. In addition, 11 of the Bears were named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team.
VanBiljon will begin her swimming career at Missouri State University beginning fall 2020.
