Four #1 Seeds Scratch, Farris Picks 100 Back Over 50 Free For Day 4 In Indy

2021 PRO SWIM SERIES – INDIANAPOLIS (#4)

Four swimmers holding the top seed in an event have officially scratched out of the final preliminary session at the Indianapolis Pro Swim, though none of them have raced through the first three days of the competition.

Indiana swimmers Annie Lazor and Cody Miller are out after entering as the top seeds in the women’s and men’s 200 breaststroke, while Team Elite swimmers Kristian Gkolomeev (men’s 50 free) and Kathleen Baker (women’s 200 IM) are also absent.

Among swimmers that have actually competed in Indianapolis, the most noteworthy Day 4 scratch probably comes from Dean Farris, who has dropped the men’s 50 free as the 12th seed. Farris will instead take on the 100 backstroke, where he comes in ranked fourth.

In the women’s 800 freestyle, Kaersten Meitz has not scratched, but has opted out of the fastest heat, swimming with finals, and will instead swim in the morning. Meitz comes in ranked sixth in the event.
