East Carolina to Join Soon-To-Be-Renamed Big East Conference

The East Carolina Pirates are leaving Conference USA in 2014 to join the soon-to-be renamed conference that is the continuation of the old Big East.

This is just one more move in what has been a very confusing decade of conference realignment. The Big East has effectively sold its name to a portion of its membership (known colloquially as the “Catholic 7”) and will continue on under some name that has not been revealed yet.
