NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women’s swimming & diving team started off the new year with a Coastal Athletic Association play with a dual meet victory over Drexel by a score of 180-120 on Saturday at the Carpenter Sports Complex.

With the win, the Blue Hens improved to 2-0 overall in dual meets.

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware men’s swimming & diving team kicked off the new year, and Coastal Athletic Association season with a dual meet victory over Drexel by a final score of 189-111 at the Carpenter Sports Complex on Saturday.

With the win, the Blue Hens improve their dual meet record to 2-0 overall.

RESULTS

The follow finished in first place in their respective events:

  • Delaware’s 200 medley relay team of Gavin CurrieToni SabevSimeon Sabev, and Matvei Namakonov at 1:29.73.
  • Dylan Smolders in the 1000 freestyle at 9:40.24.
  • Jacob Replogle in the 200 freestyle at 1:42.41 and 500 freestyle at 4:46.57
  • Currie in the 100-backstroke at 50.44 seconds and 200 backstroke at 1:48.54.
  • Toni Savev in the 100 breaststroke (56.33 seconds).
  • Kevin Siegfried in the 1-meter dive with a score of 306.53 and 3-meter dive with a score of 289.20.
  • Evan Frick in the 200 breaststroke at 2:06.07.

NEWARK, Del. – The Drexel women’s swimming and diving team fell to Delaware on Saturday. Despite a few standout performances, the Dragons fell short as they lost 180-120.

Drexel began the meet with a strong start, placing first in the 200-medley relay. The team of Federica NoceraEwa OsiniakMegan Ehrnfeldt and Chelsea Gravereaux teamed up and finished the race in 1:45.01.

Chelsea Gravereaux was dominant in the freestyle, clinching first place across three events. In the 50 free, she registered a time of 23.67, followed by a mark of  51.43 in the 100 free. She completed her run in the 200 free, clocking in at 1:52.06.

Federica Nocera competed in the 100 and 200 back, clinching first place in both events. She completed the 100 back with a time of 56.64 and followed this up with a recorded time of 2:02.52 in the 200. Aldercy Bui also competed in the 200 back, placing second with a time of 57.43.

Megan Ehrnfeldt placed first in the 100 fly, finishing with a time of 57.19. In the 200 fly, Ehrnfeldt placed second, clocking in at 2:06.74.

Ehrnfeldt also participated in the 400 free relay as she teamed up with Federica NoceraClare Schwartz, and Olivia Scherbin to finish in second with a time of 3:34.59.

In the 1000 free, Emma Flickinger finished in second place with a time of 10:50.45. Skye Bilger also placed third in the event with a mark of 10:53.49.

Up next, the Dragons will head back to the Daskalakis Athletic Center to take on Towson on Jan. 20 for the Dragon’s senior day meet.  The first event is slated for 11 a.m.

NEWARK, Del. – The Drexel men’s swimming and diving team was upended by Delaware on Saturday, 189-111. With the loss, the Dragons fell to  2-2 on the season.

The Dragons placed first in the 400 free relay as Jakub KwasnyAndrea CasiniColton Wade and Sebastian Smith teamed up for a time of 3:03.49.

Sebastian Smith had a pair of first-place finishes in the 50 and 100 free, recording times of 20.63 and 45.20 in each. Another Dragon to have multiple top finishes was Jakub Kwasny, who in the 100 and 200 fly, put up times of 49.91 and 1:52.02, respectively.

Alessio Gianni finished first in the 200 IM, finishing with a time of 1:55.20. Gianni also finished second in the 200 back, clocking in at 1:52.40. Dimi Gkelis also had himself a second-place finish in the 100 back, finishing with a time of 50.61.

Gkelis was also a part of the Dragon’s 200 medley relay team as he teamed up with, Kacper KarnikJakub Kwasny and Sebastian Smith to finish in second with a time of 1:29.87.

Meanwhile, on the diving board, Jack Patton finished in third on the one-meter board, putting up a score of 252.30.

Up next, the Dragons will head back to the Daskalakis Athletic Center to take on Towson on Jan. 20 for the Dragon’s senior day meet.  The first event is slated for 11 a.m.
