LEXINGTON, Va. — Davidson swimmers and divers combined for 24 of 26 event wins and swept the team victories as well in a non-conference meet at VMI Saturday afternoon.

The Davidson women won all 13 events in their meet and posted a 194-42 victory, while the Davidson men won 143-79.

Anna Newman and Dylan Felt led the way with two individual wins apiece. Newman won the women’s 200 IM (2:08.47) and the 200 breast (2:21.93), while Felt won the men’s 200 IM (1:56.91) and 200 fly (1:52.08).

The Wildcat women won both relays as Nora RatmeyerKelsa DatorMartha Tripsa and Katie Homme started the meet with a win in the 400 medley (4:03.59) and Addy DonaldsonAnn ThompsonRani Greer and Chale Jacks closed it with a 200 free victory (1:43.35).

Other wins came from Tripsa (50 free, 24.59), Ratmeyer (100 free, 54.26), Thompson (200 back, 2:05.16), Greer (500 free, 5:14.59), Lea Nader (1,000 free, 10:57.84), Sylvia Stewart-Bates (200 free, 1:57.31) and Jessie Cline (200 fly, 2:12.48).

Wildcats Annica Valmassei (1M, 250.35) and Elle Jacobsen (3M, 232.95) posted the top diving scores.

For the men, Owen CurryAndrew SchouMiles Charles and AJ Teixeira started off the Wildcats with a 400 medley relay (3:27.58) win.

The Wildcats stacked up the freestyle wins as well, with Guil Ware (50 free, 21.29), Ben McClain (100 free, 46.55), Jeremy Kemp (200 free, 1:42.97) and Fletcher Smith (500 free, 4:47.85) touching first.

Schou posted a win in the 200 breast (2:07.50), and Zach Jones earned a win in the 200 back (1:57.08).

In diving, James Gourlay (1M, 243.00) and Ben Cutforth (3M, 262.25) got the wins.

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Davidson College swimming and diving teams defeated VMI Saturday afternoon, 143-79 in men’s competition and 194-42 in the women’s meet. It was the season opener for VMI and the first varsity swimming competition in Goodall Pool inside the new VMI Aquatics Center.

The Keydets had several good performances, including freshman Pedro Robertson winning the men’s 1000 free in 10:15.71.

VMI Men’s Top Performers:

*The 200 free relay team of Matt PicardDalton CosnerSam Castle and Chino Vera won the race in 1:25.86
*Picard and Vera took second and third in the 50 free in 21.41 and 21.51, respectively. Picard and Cosner placed 2-3 in the 100 free in 47.39 and 47.44
*Ethan Griffith finished second in the 200 IM in 1:57.08 and the 200 breast (2:11.42)
*Elijah Fields was second in the 200 fly in 1:58.62
*Castle finished the 200 back in 1:57.86 to take second
*The 400 yard relay team of Tinn NguyenChase LaneMax Brunner and Collin Marks finished third in 3:36
*Cosner took fourth in the 200 free in 1:46.31 and Tee Bowles was fourth in the 500 free in 5:06.07
*Lane Jones placed third in both the 1 meter diving (189.90) and 3 meter diving (186.85) events and Craig Swain set personal bests on both boards

VMI Women’s Top Performers:

*Valerie Tonnu was second in the 200 fly, finishing in 2:31.08 and was third in the 200 back (2:15.75)
*Rachel Greathouse placed third in both the 200 free (2:01.14) and 500 free (5:22.31)
*Anna Grace Adams placed fourth in the 1000 free in 11:33.40
*Walden Wilder took fourth in the 200 IM in 2:17.71 and fourth in the 200 breast in 2:38.14
*Noelle Tong was fifth in the 50 free in 25.91
*Kate TaylorCarter WasserJillian Maher and Julia Ward finished the 200 free relay in 1:45.19
*Courtney Novotny finished the 100 free in 57.34 to place sixth
*Ella Davenport was fourth in both the 1 and 3 meter diving competitions
