Connor Haigh of Kennesaw, Georgia has announced his verbal commitment to swim for the University of Georgia beginning in the fall of 2020. Haigh is a senior at Kennesaw Mountain High School and a member of Tidal Wave Swimming.
A breaststroke and IM specialist, Haigh has seen rapid improvements over the last year. This summer he competed at the Georgia Senior State Long Course Championships, winning the 200 breaststroke (2:19.65) as well as taking second in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.55) and fourth in the 200 IM (2:09.19). At this same meet last year Haigh was a 1:10.25 and 2:27.57 in the 100 and 200 breast, respectively. Last spring at the 2019 NCSA Spring Championships he qualified for finals in the 200 breaststroke, finishing 29th in a Winter Juniors qualifying time of 2:04.12.

With his best times Haigh would have been just short of scoring at the 2019 Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championships. It took a 54.08/1:58.19 to qualify for the C-final in the 100 and 200 breast, as well as 1:46.47/3:50.06 in the 200 and 400 IM. After arriving on campus Haigh will have one year of overlap with junior Jack Dalmolin who currently leads Georgia’s breaststroke group.
