High school junior Fletcher Hayes from Englewood, Colorado has announced his verbal commitment to the Auburn University class of 2025 where he will join future classmates Grant Davis and Nate Stoffle.

When I first set foot on campus I knew it was the school for me, the coaches and swimmers made me feel like family and I knew I had found my place. I cannot thank my family, coaches, teammates and friends enough for all their support! WAR EAGLE!!”
Fletcher swims for Arapahoe High School in Littleton and Aces Swim Club. He placed 2nd in the 500 free (4:36.05, altitude-adjusted to 4:31.05) and 3rd in the 200 IM (1:52.19, altitude-adjusted to 1:50.99) at the 2019 Colorado High School 5A Boys State Championship. His best times in those events, as well as in the 50/100/200 free and 100/200 back, came from Phoenix Sectionals in March. There, he was 5th in the 200 back, 8th in the 100 back, 10th in the 200 IM, and 13th in the 500 free. This summer he competed at Colorado LSC Senior Long Course Championships where he won the 200m back and 200m IM and placed in the top-8 of all his other events: 100/200/400m free, 100 back, and 400 IM. His 200 back (2:07.73) and 100 free (55.19) were best times. At Des Moines Futures he notched PBs in the LCM 50 free (25.08), 200 free (1:56.22), 400 free (4:06.37), 100 back (57.78), and 200 IM (2:09.48).
It took 47.71/1:44.31 to score in the backstroke events, 1:46.47 in the 200 IM, and 43.82/1:36.25/4:21.37 at 2019 SEC Championships.
