The Cincinnati Marlins are proud to announce Lindsey Niergarth as the new Head Age-Group Coach.

Lindsey is an ASCA Member and Level 3 coach and comes from an extensive swimming background beginning when she was just four years old. In 2008, she qualified for the United States Olympic Trials in the 200 free, 200 fly, and 100 fly. Her passion is to inspire swimmers to swim pretty before they can swim fast and in the development of getting excited about setting goals and racing well in order to achieve their goals.

Over the course of her career, Lindsey has worked with club, high school, and college swimmers, and has helped produced JO Champions, Futures qualifiers, Sectional qualifiers, and Olympic Trials qualifiers.

Most recently, Lindsey served as the Head Age Group Coach and this year transitioned into the Senior Program Director for Peddie Aquatics in New Jersey for the last 3.5 years. When Lindsey arrived at Peddie, only 2 age group level swimmers had ever qualified or competed at the Junior Olympic level. Lindsey went to work in the overhaul of the Age Group program and helped to design, implement, and coach a performance track for athletes who wanted to make swimming their top priority. After the implementation of the performance group, in just 3 short years, Lindsey was the direct coach of over 20 JO qualifiers and numerous champions, Sectionals qualifiers, Futures qualifiers, and one Olympic Trials qualifier. Lindsey’s swimmers have broken numerous club and state records in both individual and relay swims. Lindsey also helped design a Youth Leadership Council for the club team, as well as helped run numerous clinics and summer camps for all ages and levels of swimmers. This past year, Lindsey also served as a Varsity Assistant coach to the boys and girls teams at the Peddie School. She helped coach athletes who were Eastern Conference Champions, team record holders, and Junior National qualifiers.

Lindsey started her career in Columbia, SC working as a summer league coach for all ages, while attending The University of South Carolina, where she studied Psychology and Sport and Entertainment Management. After graduating from USC, she received her Master’s Degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology from Argosy University. Prior to her time at Peddie, Lindsey coached in Charleston, SC for the Southern Marlins Racing Team. During her time at SMRT, she served as a group lead coach who developed the entry level swimmers to the team. While there, her swimmers learned the basic skills it takes to be a successful swimmer and even had an athlete qualify and compete at Age Group Sectionals. After coaching in South Carolina, Lindsey moved to the Seattle area and was the Head Coach for the Columbia Athletic Club Wahoos.

Lindsey is a USA Swimming certified coach and has her certifications through USA Swimming in Athlete Protection Training, Foundations of Coaching. Lindsey has participated in the USA Swimming Women’s Leadership Summit for the past 2 years. She has also attended numerous ASCA World Swimming clinics, as well as numerous national and regional USA swimming coaching clinics. She has a deep passion for the sport of swimming and loves helping athletes to reach their highest potential both in and out of the pool. Her coaching philosophy centers around her Sports Psychology degree and her desire to teach kids how to love swimming. Lindsey’s goal is to coach the whole athlete: mind, body, and spirit to not only be a successful swimmer, but a well rounded individual as well. Lindsey has a beautiful one year old daughter and enjoys cooking and college football.
